With the NHLs pride jerseys its worth mentioning that it all started with Provorov being the first to not wear the jersey and his coach, John Tortorella really went to bat for him on it. He’s the same coach who promised to bench anyone kneeling for the anthem a few years ago. I think he deserves some credit for this since if he just benched Provorov like he was being urged to do we might’ve not seen other players join in, like Eric Staal who’s worn one in the past, but has refused to this year.
